This Day in Family History

On this day 90 years ago my grandparents Chiltie Rufus McCormick Sr. son of George Thomas McCormick and Fannie Mae Curry and Jewel Dove McClure daughter of  James Claude McClure and Bertie Hayes Pauley where married in Yawkey, Lincoln County, West Virginia. The had eight children. My grandfather died in 1955 and my grandmother in 1974.

Relative of the Day Harold Leory Ash and Dorothy Lee McCormick Ash

Today I chose two people because today would have been there 59th Anniversary. My Uncle Harold passed last July. This two are great people always doing for the children and other family members. Harold worked for Zerox for as long as I can remember and retired from there. Dorothy loves her family always having baby showers for her nieces and going to weddings of her nieces and nephews. She holds a Christmas dinner every year for the family. Was the driving force behind are family reunions for years. One of my fondest memories of my uncle Harold was he knew I was very ticklish and would tickle me as a kid till I would almost pee my pants. He had one of the strongest hand shakes of anyone I have ever meet. I spent a lot of time has a kid at there house. Dorothy is a great cook makes the best pizza ever, and great french fries.

Relative of the Day Fannie Mae McCormick

My relative of the day is my Aunt Fannie Mae McCormick Spears Dickens, today is her 86th birthday. I remember visiting her in the hospital 14 years ago, she was 72 it was almost her 73rd birthday. She stated to me I don't think I will make it to my 73rd birthday, well she still her and kicking. She is a lovely lady with lots of love for her children and her many nieces and nephews. She has been married twice first to Ernest Dual Spears who is married 1 Sep 1949 in Yawkey, Lincoln County, West Virginia he died 21 Jul 1982. She then married Marvin Roy Dickens on 1 Aug 1988 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, She has 7 Children who love her dearly.

Fannie Mae Curry is my Great-grandmother born 10 Mar 1867 in Boone County, West Virginia. Daughter of And Irvin Curry and Sarah Jane Elkins. She first married George Thomas McCormick. They had 8 children, including my Grandfather, Chiltie Rufus McCormick Sr. George died 13 Dec 1908 in Yawkey, Lincoln County, West Virginia. On 29 Aug 1910 she married William Harrison McCormick 1st cousin of George. William had been married to Fannie's sister Emily who had died 20 May 1910. William and Emily had 7 children. William and Fannie had 1 child together. Fannie died 12 Jun 1947 and is buried at Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco, Lincoln County, West Viginia
